God’s Provision

What does provision mean to you?

Just as fingerprints are unique and vastly diverse – I believe that God’s provision looks different for everyone. For some it might be in the form of finances for a missions trip or car. For others it might mean bringing a friend to them when they feel utterly alone and need comfort.

The dictionary definition of provision is ‘the action of providing or supplying something for use’.

The action of God providing what we can’t control; what we can’t see coming to our grasp; thoroughly trusting God and his provision for our lives.

In my own life, Gods provision has been very evident in sense of he’s always provided for my every need, even if I don’t see it asa need at the time. When I sent in my application to come to DTS, initially the finances started to overwhelm me; the anxiety started to overcome me. After talking to a friend, they reminded me of just how much God provides. An email had come in that day of a spontaneous plane ticket on sale for a ridiculously cheap price. All the overwhelming feelings left me and peace overtook my heart when I saw how much God really does meet the needs.

Another way God’s provision was clear for me is he provided a safe environment to live in growing up. Being homeschooled, I was sheltered to a point where if I actually went to a school, nothing would be the same in my personal life.

Working in the Registrar office for my work duty, I’ve noticed that many of the prayers that are clipped onto their prayer wall. God has answered and provided for many of the prayers on that wall – especially the ones for January 2017 DTS and it’s only been 2 weeks! These prayers have not just been for tuition fees, but also visas and healings.

God provides unconditionally for all our needs, God equips for our needs in His timing, not ours. God furnishes us in ways we would never expect. God provides for us through grace and not through merit. He’s a good Father.

Matthew 6:31-33

“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need.”
