Pacific Hope – Marine Reach New Zealand
The M/V Pacific Hope
Since the inception of Marine Reach in 1990, four ships have been launched from our base in Tauranga, New Zealand and provided over $47 million worth of Dental, Ophthalmology, Medical, community development and construction services to over 500,000 people in the Asia-Pacific region. Our current ship, the M/V Pacific Hope, was purchased in 2012, and has since undergone intense renovations to include suitable accommodation and training facilities, and a fully functional dental clinic, with immediate plans of ophthalmology and optometry clinics. Over the past two years, she has served all over the South Pacific, including The Philippines, Samoa, and Fiji, but primarily in the nation of Vanuatu, providing these same services to some of the most isolated islands in the Pacific. Along with the practical aid the ship naturally brings, our ship outreach teams have also ministered to the spiritual and emotional needs of the people, bringing the message of hope only the Gospel of Jesus can bring.
Volunteering on a ship or land-based short-term outreach is a great way to immerse yourself in another culture, meet new people, learn new skills or use the professional skills you have, and give back to a community or nation in need. Outreaches are usually two weeks long, but longer periods of service are welcomed. Check out our outreach opportunities below to find where you could have an experience of a lifetime!
