OVERVIEW

Today the world is wracked in pain and despair as floods, earthquakes, tsunami’s, famine, war and injustice bring misery to millions. Christ’s heart is broken over the plight of man and constantly looks for those who would reveal his heart of compassion. This DTS concentrates on preparing students both physically and spiritually to go to poorest and most desperate communities in a developing nation to bring life and hope.

MEDICAL COMPONENT

The school will have a medical component to provide practical skills and students will partner with organizations like the Ruel Foundation"http://www.ruelfoundation.com" . The school is a Basic Skills For Medical Missions. For more info see our Medical DTS on this site or contact us via our contact page.

Students engage in acts of compassion in the local community through out the lecture phase period. Visits are made to retirement homes, children's homes and outreaches to young people on the streets of Tauranga late at night. The two month outreach is in a developing nation sharing Christ's heart of compassion to the poor, vulnerable and forgotten men, women and children in these nations.

DAVID - New Zealand
School Leader

I joined my first outreach with Youth With a Mission in 1967 in New Zealand. It was while I was working with YWAM in Kenya in 1970 that I met my wife, Linda, who was visiting from the States. We have both have served in YWAM for over 40 years pioneering YWAM ministries on three continents.

I started the Ruel Foundation (www.ruelfoundation.com) in 1990, which is a ministry to children at risk in developing nations. While this is now my primary focus, I continue to serve on several YWAM Boards and provide an eldership role within the mission.

CADI - USA
Staff

Kia Ora! My name is Cadi, and I'm from Iowa, USA. I graduated High School in January of 2011, came to NZ to do a DTS, then came back to do an internship with the Tauranga House of Prayer, and am now staffing the Compassion DTS at Marine Reach. I believe I will be in long-term missions in an unreached people group eventually, and know that I will be fueled by prayer and worship with and for my Lord and best friend. I enjoy soccer, swimming, reading, and singing, but most of all, I enjoy the unimaginable love of Jesus Christ, who gives me every good thing, raises me up from the ashes, and sets the perfect example for me to walk in. I would love your prayers for the wisdom, humility, and obedience to lead well, and most of all, love the Lord well. Thanks! And have a beautiful day!
