Changing our perspective
Everything changes. There is not one thing that isn’t affected by change on this earth. The weather changes, people change, seasons change, circumstances change, attitudes change, everything changes. The only thing in the entire universe that doesn’t change is God. We always hear that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, but do we truly believe it? I think in light of all of the things that constantly change around us, we completely forget about the one thing that has stayed constant, our heavenly Father.
The circumstances we face, and the trials and struggles we battle everyday can change in an instant. One bad decision, one word said at the wrong time. It all changes, but GOD DOESN’T CHANGE. He can not change, yet He changes everything. I think sometimes we get caught up in whats going on in our lives that we put God in the same box as our circumstances. We think, well God must not like me this week because I’m feeling so rejected. Or because someone does something to us that we don’t like we think God has forgotten us. Let me tell you, He hasn’t forgotten you.
We need to learn to depend on God for everything. If He is the one thing that doesn’t change, then why do we waste our lives trying to put our trust in things that don’t stay the same? Why do we constantly get disappointed by people, or situations that don’t go our way? Now, thats not to say that we shouldn’t trust at all, but God needs to be your anchor at all times not other people or circumstances.
The truth of the matter is that we have a Father that loves us, is faithful to us, and he works everything out for the good of those who love Him. His son died on the cross, He gives good gifts, perfect gifts, and He is our refuge, our strength, our joy; and that NEVER CHANGES. Our God is constant, He is slow to anger and quick to listen.
So the next time things seem to be going downhill and everything is falling apart around you, remember that the same God that was with you in the plenty, in the abundance, in the happiness of life, He is also with you in the depression, in the grief, in the difficult times, and in the easy times, because HE DOES NOT CHANGE, when everything else does.
